Level 3 and Verizon new approach

I keep thinking that the ideal marriage is a company that offers both VoIP and Cellular (see posts below as this is starting to look clearer. So when I came across two notes from VoIPNuke’s Keith aka Skibare, and then a post from test em out uber – blogger Tom Keating I only felt more smug.

The idea of a flat call from your cell to access your already paid for VoIP line is much akin to the post earlier in the week about the pseudo Skype bridge that let’s Skype users reach you away from the PC…but only in reverse.

What I’m seeing here is the end of the telco product offerings as we know it and the start of your phone system being more than just a calling vehicle. What is in essence happening is your smart VoIP adapter and services are going to be reachable to you and those you permit.

We are clearly at the start of a new era and the best ideas are yet to come.

  1. at VON, you might want to DIG this story deeper——–Cell Phones could attack back the evil cable companies chomping at their heels on VOIP with a CELL ADVANTAGE a Cable does NOT have!!!!
Equip CELL with VOIP and you have a MOBILE KILLER Application!!!!! Verizon and SBC/BellSOUTH could actually pull a Whabbit out da Hat with this Cellular/VOIP Bridging to combat cables taking all their customers from RBOC’s!
    Skibare
    Dig and yee shall find!
