Sure they have competition from TI, Broadcom and Qualcomm to name a few in the telecom space, but while none of those companies have an alliance with a state of the art network that connects the dots, Intel is looking at how to do just that.
While Qualcomm may call their customers who buy chips for handsets and carriers their “partners” really what the big Q has are targets to deliver their chips and CDMA algorithm to, and in reality are nothing but a one trick pony, hence their steadfast desire to stem the tide of noise around WiMax, and to get into the media delivery business with MediaFlo.
An alliance between Intel and AT&T offers amazing possibilities. Intel already is inside every PC and PDA that matters. Now you add on enhanced in network services from AT&T and the connectivity quality is assured from end point to end point
