We’ve been covering Bridgeport Networks for some time, writing about their place in where VoIP is going as part of convergence. Yesterday Forbes listed them as possible acquisition candidate by always buying Cisco. While I think this is not as likely today to happen, one never rules anything out in business.
The story is especially timely for the Chicago area startup, because next Thursday they have organized a blockbuster conference, that is basically invite only, which has attracted telecom and wireless executives from around the globe. In this case it’s all about the convergence of telecom and what’s next.
The list looks like a who’s who, and is led by the father of Ethernet, Bob Metcalfe who is part of a panel I’m moderating. I’d tell you who is committed, but I’ve promised to wait a few days before I say. But I’m impressed, and when it comes to conference I don’t blush easily. Executives at the highest of levels from Cellular, Switch, Infrastructure and Service Providers all seem to be lining up to spend a January Day in Chicago….
