A little birdie told me that 3Tone a key initiative at Level3 for the past five years or so may be history real soon.
This *MAY* explain the delay with Vonage launching their IP PBX/Centrex replacement for the SOHO and enterprise market. I was told that the announcement was “pushed” back two weeks. Certainly the timing of the two situations anc coupled with the nudges during CES that Vonage was looking at Level 3 for a deal are too close not to draw a conclusion or to at least speculate.
3Tone on life support?
From Andy Abramso comes a report that Level 3 may be making plans to end its 3Tone initiative, which is a service that essentially lets anyone become a VoIP provider by using Level 3’s infrastructure and re-packaging for your local
