Splitting time as much as I do between San Diego, San Jose and Sacramento puts me sometimes in a place where cell service isn’t always plentiful. Over the weekend I learned something new when I asked myself why I have to call long distance to use CallVantage’s Control By Phone so calls made from places like my future mother in law’s house won’t end up on her bill and I can avoid my calling card’s usage. I found out with a little sleuthing that I don’t.
This list also makes it easy. With many hotels offering free local calling as part of in-room broadband plans (Marriott and Fairmont for sure) I can now call the local Dial In for AT&T, save minutes on my cellular phone and dial out as if I was still in San Diego.
What’s more, I can track those calls that are related to work, and for those who try and track my movements, let them think I’m still in San Diego, while I’m sitting on the beach in Florida or New Jersey (unfortunately it’s Continental USA only no Maui yet or Alaska….)
