Level3, which always has strived to be the carriers’ carrier, added another cable company, Cable One, to its growing list of MSO’s who are relying on the Colorado based company for VoIP infrastructure.
Cable operators are likely the key long term customer for Level3 in this space. While Earthlink, AOL and Packet8 all are also customers the ability for the MSO’s to ramp via a truck roll, offer combined billing and price bundling is more available to them vs. the standalone VoIP plays.
All Level3 and the MSO’s have to do is figure out how to promote VoIP together to leverage marketing opportunities that, in my mind, are too obvious to pass up.
