Tom Keating has a post where he ponders if Skype is a possible pipe for porn? I’ve been on the same wavelength and while Tom isn’t so sure, I think it will be now that they’ve added video.
Why? Every other video pipe already has some of it and its a great vehicle for sampling.
When I asked Henry Gomez, the new GM of Skype-USA about that idea a week ago he used the “telephone line” argument, which I felt was the wrong metaphore, saying they’re not responsible for what goes through their encrypted pipe any more than the phone company is for what is discussed on their land lines. Well since Skype doesn’t want to be positioned as a telephone company it’s very interesting what defense they use when needed.
