NTOP Shareholders on Pins and Needles

Net2Phone shareholders are on pins and needles tonight as the tender offer comes to a close. In what’s expected to be a close race as Bush vs. Gore in Florida back in the 90s, if the tender doesn’t happen, expect the lawyers to get rich, and IDT to sit and wait as they’ve already said, they won’t sell their stake in NTOP off. Makes you wonder if anyone will be yelling “recount” as it’s expected to be be as tight as skin tight Seven jeans on Brittney Spears.

Related to NTOP one has to wonder why both they and MCI keep staying silent on their relationship. Clearly with techies in the field having already presented clear cut proof that MCI is getting their VoIP smarts from Net2Phone there can only be one or two plausible reasons.

1. It’s still a trial

2. MCI doesn’t have enough takers to their VoIP package.

One thing it does tell me is that the tech smarts are clearly at NTOP and not at MCI. So with an ailing and aging network, what did Verizon really buy?
