How good is Google at tracking users? Well when I fire up the browser that always takes me to the Google search page I get it in what ever language of country I happen to be in. But the real kicker was when I went to New Zealand based Geekzone.co.nz and the ads served up by Google AdWords were for the most part in German.
Lots of people have wondered how much Google mines about the users. It had me wondering if Google ever took over the world’s directory assistance business what would happen if I dialed 411 on Google Talk? It got me thinking does Google know me, or really just know my PC? Why serve me ads in German, and not ask me first what language I want them translated into.
Same applies to 411. Imagine if Google knows I prefer English, but being from the USA 411 is the number to call for directory assistance. So why not let me use what’s routine for me vs. what would be routine in Germany, to get the same desired result….hmmm..
