Over a year ago Packet 8 tried the kiosk route at Valley Fair Mall in San Jose.
Now Vonage is taking the almost “me too” approach, but with a national twist.
My problem with the kiosk approach for VoIP services is the inconsistency of the people answering the questions from shift to shift. That was what Packet 8 tried.
Vonage is taking a more high tech approach, by putting a computer based vending machine like location that are dubbed kiosks in the stores where they sell their hardware to speed up the activation, and in reality remove the “know not” person at retail from the equation.
On face I like the idea, but have to see it and really get the experience. Had Vonage put out some video on this, or even stills the more visually inclined of us would have a better idea of just how easy this approach may be..I’ll ask their new PR folks for some and link to it if they can provide it.
