Cisco and Nokia Getting Into FMC Game

Information Week has a story about Nokia’s Intellisync software and Cisco finding ways to team up to deliver Fixed Mobile Convergence to the Enterprise market on Nokia E-series phones.

What’s clear to me is that FMC is starting to get some attention from the carriers, but what remains unclear is which carrier will really make it a service soon in the USA.

My guess is that it won’t be a Tier One wireless player like Verizon Wireless or Sprint, but instead will be a smaller regional carrier in a market with heavy cable and DSL penetration, but that has wireless coverage footprint issues.

Also in FMC, a new company, Velophone, is charging after the same business market.
