Everyone I know is rooting for Pat Phelan’s Roam4Free/maxRoam venture to succeed. But it also looks like there is competition looming from United Mobile.
The price being quoted by United in their release seems to be at par or slightly lower. Since the rates change so much in this arena it will be hard to ever really know which service saves more money.
The key to both ventures success will be distribution and roaming agreements in my view.
MAXroam is already updating their website. No prices available in this very moment. Maybe your blog post yet makes them change their prices?
BTW: In 2 weeks I have to deliver a longer magazine article about how to save on roaming. Maxroam, United Mobile, Truphone, GlobalSIM and the like are candidates for my interviews.
Do you have helpful inputs?
United Mobile are around as long as our Roam4free product, its an excellent company and I think the market (2 billion) at present is big enough for at least another 3-4 entrants.
our first upgrade should go live in the morning, DID’s from 42 countries forwarded to your phone, free call forwarding of your MAXroam number to 700 destinations and much much more
thanks for the mention Andy
United mobile is backed by Morten Lund who I think is an original Skype backer
MaxRoam Has Competition: United Mobile
I was tipped off about United Mobile from an Andy Abramson post. Hadnt heard of them before, but it looks like they are very similar to MaxRoam, a service I had written about before. United Mobile gives you a SIM…
