One of the many side effects of the Internet and mobile era is we’ve created a society of non-talking in some parts of the world.
With buckets of SMS messages far less costly than chewing up minutes to talk on our cellphone and with access to email and text capable cellphones we’re seeing less use of voice and more use of text in some parts of the world, not because its easier, but because it costs less.
Jeff Belk, in his Unstrung column, speaks out on the dangers to the voice carriers who keep encouraging less talk and more finger action.
