CounterPath Rolls Out Web Conferencing That’s SIP Based

I like the idea of CounterPath rolling out audio conferencing to drive more sales of their flagship softclient Bria and Eyebeam, but I question the timing of the implementation of CounterPath’s web conferencing given their product still has some bugs that never seem to get fixed on the Mac side of the house. For example I just used the latest version of their EyeBeam client for a few calls and unless I plug in a headset or add on my PolyCom speakerphone the echo cancellation remains pretty lame.

I don’t experience that when using Skype with client VAPPs High Definition Conferencing , nor do I get the echo using client SightSpeed’s platform for video or audio calls.

Now, that aside, it looks more and more though that Counterpath is charting a course of being a full blown SIP based voice services company. This means that their competition is Santa Barbara based CallWave at the outset.
