One of my favorite telecom bloggers, Ike Ellott made a bad move.
He’s backing away from blogging, and that in turn will actually hurt, not help Level3.
Ike’s insight, understanding and ability to make sense out of things both related to Level3 and to the industry in general brought clarity to a very obfuscated story. He made things better understood and presented them in a very fair and balanced way.
For a company which makes its money off of 2.0 type technology and customers who work in that space, Level3 showed a lot of 1.0 type thinking with this move they likely fostered with Ike.
Perhaps after settling in at Level 3, they and Ike will find a way to fit in blogging. Level 3 has yet to make use of blogs in any way for its communications, whereas various other telecoms have begun to use it: Zayo, Global Crossing, and American Fiber systems all do now to some degree.
