The idea of Click2Call is on face a good idea, but when they become the starting point for wrong numbers, or unwanted calls from total strangers, someone is paying that cost not so much in dollars, but in time, and its not usually the call originator. Markus’ post brings that point home, and is one of the reasons I dropped click to call from the blog.
I also noticed a few months back that even Google had pulled click to call from its Google Maps search results, likely due to people just clicking and dialing merchants the same way some people call 911 on new cell phones. To see if it works.
Don’t take it the wrong way, when used properly, Click2Call is a great thing, and web call buttons that can keep a call on IP all the way over the public Internet makes for a costless toll free call, but abusing a good thing only makes a very useful technology obsolete for all the wrong reasons.
