GizmoProject, something I like, and appreciate while it’s still in Beta, has added some features.
The selective announcements and music are great ideas and provide some differentiation from Skype. I won’t be surprised if Yahoo adds some of these before Skype gets around to it.
Om has some comments about the Mac aspects of Gizmo. I recall telling some other IM/VoIP executives this exact point back in May, and while they “heard” they haven’t acted.
If Robertson continues along the path he is going he may be the one who say’s “yahoo” before the guys in Sunnyvale do when it comes to IM and VoIP because it is very easy to layer in IM around this. In my mind Robertson will find a way to integrate something that is Jabber like (i.e. Audium or Fire) around or within Gizmo and filet the IM guys who are still toying with Voice. Between Skype and Gizmo the IM market is very much now becoming quicksand.
