Why Lo-code, No-code is the Way to Go

Recently I had to change newsletter platform providers as Twitter is shutting down Revue, which was just about the best around. I decided to stay on the lo-code, no-code path, and decided on MailerLite, which is as close as I’ve found to what Revue did for me, though not nearly as rapid when it comes to my ability to craft the daily newsletter.

That got me thinking that I should explain a bit about lo-code, no-code as it is the direction software is heading.

Lo-code and no-code services are platforms that allow users to create and customize applications, websites, and other digital solutions without having to write traditional programming code. These services are designed to be user-friendly and intuitive, often featuring drag-and-drop interfaces and pre-built templates and modules that can be easily assembled to create functional solutions.

Some benefits of lo-code and no-code services include:

  • Quick prototyping and deployment: Lo-code and no-code platforms enable users to rapidly prototype and test ideas, and to get solutions up and running in a matter of hours or days rather than weeks or months.
  • Reduced development costs: Lo-code and no-code platforms can significantly reduce the time and effort required to build digital solutions, which can translate into cost savings for organizations.
  • Greater accessibility: Lo-code and no-code platforms make it possible for people with a wide range of technical backgrounds to build digital solutions, which can help organizations tap into a larger pool of talent and ideas.

Here are five well-respected examples of lo-code and no-code services:

Airtable: Airtable is a flexible, spreadsheet-like database that can be used to build a wide range of applications, including project management tools, CRMs, and collaboration platforms. Features include the ability to create custom views and forms, and to integrate with other tools and services through API connections.

Webflow: Webflow is a visual website design and development platform that allows users to create professional-quality websites without having to write code. Features include pre-designed templates and components, the ability to create custom animations and interactions, and the ability to publish websites directly from the platform.

Zapier: Zapier is a platform that allows users to create automated “Zaps” that connect different apps and services to automate workflows and tasks. Features include the ability to create custom triggers and actions, and to integrate with over 2,000 different apps and services.

Bubble: Bubble is a platform for building web and mobile applications without having to write code. Features include a visual interface for building app logic and user flows, the ability to create custom integrations and plugins, and the ability to deploy apps to the web or mobile app stores.

Appy Pie: Appy Pie is a platform for building mobile apps without having to write code. Features include pre-designed templates and components, the ability to add custom functionality through integrations with other services, and the ability to publish apps to the iOS and Android app stores.

With Lo-code, No-code, your time to completion is much faster, and the hassles and headaches of maintaining services to keep things running is on the service provider, not you. For someone who likes to get things done, not spend lots of time getting things up and running, a well managed Lo-code, No-code service is the only way to go.
