AI-based products and services have become increasingly popular in recent years, and a number of third-party companies have emerged all based upon OpenAI as their core technology.
One example of a company that is using OpenAI technology is DALL-E, a platform that enables users to generate custom images from textual descriptions. DALL-E uses a variant of the GPT-3 language model developed by OpenAI, and it allows users to input a description of the image they want to create, such as “a two-story pink house with a white fence and a red door.” The platform will then generate a unique image based on the description provided. Having been using this for the past few months to create images for my daily newsletter many readers have been asking how I find so many cool images that look like those from famous artists. The answer is, all based on OpenAI and the DALL-E rendering engine, with the added spark of my descriptions and comparison.
Another example of a company that is using OpenAI technology is DeepMind, a leader in the field of artificial intelligence research. DeepMind has developed a number of AI-based products and services that are built on top of the OpenAI platform, including AlphaGo, a machine learning system that defeated the world champion Go player in 2016.
To help you get started in seeing what’s out there, here’s a list of third-party companies that are using OpenAI as their core technology, organized by category:
- Machine learning platforms: DALL-E, DeepMind
- Natural language processing: OpenAI’s GPT-3 language model is used by a number of companies to power chatbots and other language-based AI applications.
- Computer vision: OpenAI’s DALL-E platform can be used to generate custom images from textual descriptions, making it useful for a variety of computer vision tasks.
- Robotics: OpenAI’s machine learning algorithms have been used to develop intelligent robots that can navigate complex environments and perform tasks.
What’s clear to me is how the use of OpenAI technology by third-party companies has helped to drive innovation and advance the field of artificial intelligence by bringing the usage of it even closer to the everyday online user. These companies are using OpenAI’s powerful machine learning algorithms to build a wide range of innovative products and services, from chatbots and image generation tools to intelligent robots and beyond.
What comes next is still to be defined, which is why I’ll be really, and artificially, watching and reporting on this space to keep up, as the world of AI is clearly here, just as the web arrived in the early 90s, to put an addressable layer atop the already existing Internet.
