The BTX-4K supports the protocol, codec and security functionality specified in the PacketCable standards. The BTX-4K is the first media gateway to provide high reliability through 1+1 common logic and voice processing redundancy. In addition, voice port capacity may be increased without impacting service.
For the unitiated, the media gateway is what works between PSTN and VoIP networks. I’d say this is an important announcement.
