AOL VoIP Beta Details

Someone in the AOL VoIP beta test sent this too me. I don’t know if this is fact or fiction, so like all reports about Beta activity, take it with a grain of salt.

How do I use AOL Talk to have a voice conversation?

AOL Talk allows you to have a voice conversation with your online friends. You can use your microphone and speakers or a USB phone (such as the AOL Talk phone) to talk to your online friends while you IM them.

To have a voice conversation with an online friend

Start an IM conversation with an online friend who is using AOL 9.0 or later and has a microphone and speaker (either built-in or attached to his or her
computer) or a USB phone (such as the AOL Talk phone).
When you receive a response to your IM, click, in the IM toolbar on the IM window to invite your online friend to join the AOL Talk session.
Click Yes to the warning message that appears asking if you want to proceed. (If you do not want to see this message every time you initiate an AOL Talk session, click Do not show this message again.) Once you have both agreed to proceed and a direct connection is established, the AOL Talk window opens, which allows you to have a voice conversation.

The colored bars next to your name and your online friend’s name show the strength of the signal from each of you.
Use the volume controls next to the colored bars to adjust the microphone (next to your name) and the speaker (next to your online friend’s name).
Press the hold button to temporarily pause the conversation.
Press the disconnect button to end your AOL Talk session.
