I’ve said it before, with VoIP it’s all about the applications. Om pointed me to the VoIP Yawn which seems to have come to the same conclusion.

If VoIP is all about applications, then shouldn’t the vendors be competing on the feature set, not price, of their offering? I tend to agree with you, but I just don’t see the market putting any value to those features, at least not anytime soon. Until then, VoIP will remain a service that is bought/sold entirely on price.
There is no value to the services provided by VoIP service providers because a SP is not intrinsically needed; the end points can realize them on their own. The only service that is currently priced is PSTN (widely viewed to be a dinosaur) interconnection.
