iotum, Grand Central on Fierce 15

I couldn’t be happier as for some really nice people at iotum and Grand Central yesterday as both companies, along with 13 others made the Fierce VoIP 15.

The reason I’m happy is from the start of things I have been telling both Alec Saunders and Howard Thaw, iotum’s co-founders and Grand Central’s co-founders Craig Walker and Vincent Pacquet how the two companies are perfect partners, as their technology compliments one another.

Lists like these are so subjective that one has to commend Dan Rosenbaum for pulling it together in such a short time the helm at Fierce VoIP. It wasn’t easy and the list does give a real good cross section of companies who are innovating in Voice.

As for some of the other 13, seeing JaJah on the list shows that the telecom media still appreciates a “bad boy.” Their minute stealing approach seems to be getting nice accolades, but my experience with their Mac plug in for Firefox seemed be less than stellar as the call set up seemed take two or three minutes, and wasn’t even close to the times I used to get from true Kallback services in the 1.0 world. Still their approach is easy, and I do like their integration with Plaxo.

It was nice to see SunRocket recognized, but have to wonder if Earthlink’s True Voice was considered. Over the past few months, I’ve been using True Voice in the home office as test vs. AT&T’s CallVantage and fell now that AOL’s TotalTalk is gone, that the Earthlink offering comes a closer second to CallVantage.
