Nokia N97 Shipping Soon

VNUNet is reporting that the eagerly awaited Nokia N97 will be shipping in June. The device has WiFi, a VoIP stack, SIP embedded and lots of goodies. It’s lightweight and will be the first Nokia device to seamlessly integrate with the Ovi store, Nokia’s app store.

Nokia, which is a client of my agency, has been showcasing the new device since December during Nokia World. Various reports have floated around about it from people who have been able to get access to prototypes, but for the most part the final build of the software won’t be on the phones until they ship.

One other note, last time I talked with Skype officials the launch date for Skype on the N97 was expected to be August so I’m questioning the reference in the article. Having used a build of Skype Lite on the E71 recently I found the service to work, but not as well as the iSkoot implementation on the INQ Skypephones 1 & 2 which I’ve been using for some time.
