The Recent Skype Survey

Dina @ SkypeJournal questions the sincerity of the recent Skype questionaire/survey sent out to some subscribers. It was meant to validate, not project based on the questions I saw. While I fully agree with Dina’s assessment that Skype missed some opportunities, I also understand their motivation. The survey was in my view a way to … Read more

A Little Dose of Reality

As a VoIP advocate I also enjoy sober moments, just like as a Wine Drinker I enjoy my times away from the glass. That’s why I’m so happy to see Om take a shot at two research reports that he saw yesterday. I actually decided NOT To blog about one of them as I couldn’t … Read more

Vonage Gets a Pal

Vonage has struck a deal with Instant Messenger aggregator PalTalk of New York to resell Vonage service to its user base. While the release doesn’t go into detail, I would hope that the relationship would include a softphone integration with PalTalk, I wonder what that does to the relationship between XTEN and Vonage.

Gizmo-Lacking In Support

One of the things I love about CallVantage and Broadvoice is how rapidly each of those companies support teams jumps on problems and get back to me with answers, usually its a senior tech or ops person. Sometimes it’s a ranking executive, but always the problem gets resolved, even if I’m proxing for a reader … Read more

BT’s 21st Century Network Test Sites Chosen

British Telecom which has to play major catch-up in the VoIP game and next gen network world has identified where their 21CN starts. Jeff and others have started to comment on ProjectGizmo from the king of disruption, Michael Robertson. Reports are that while Robertson’s newest idea is working using his SipPhone architecture, that the real strength behind the service is his termination deal with SingTel. Pulver picks up on Om’s comment about Gizmo not really being that open … Read more

Another WiFI/GSM Combo Phone

I’ve been keeping an eye on the is company, Calypso Wireless, which is in the business of making trans-platform wireless handsets. They seem to be approaching the market the right way and getting validation at each step of the process.

Blog Panel @ Fall VON 2005

I’m moderating another Bloggers Only Panel at VON this September in Boston and starting to get excited about it. While the list is not yet complete, the line up reads like the “Dream Team,” “Murders Row” and an All Star line up in Baseball, where everyone is Ted Williams at the plate when it comes … Read more

Rogers Telephone Service

Jon Arnold has some valuable insight, as always, on the Rogers Cable telephone offering detailing what it is, isn’t and may indeed be one day. He links to fellow Canadian, Mark Evans comments as well. Between these two, I wonder what the Globe and Mail was left with to say that made what Rogers announced … Read more
